Open Question: What Blog Host should I use? ?
My family and i are going overseas in acouple of months, for quite awhile. I cant use the internet as much, nor can i contact my friends often. Im planning to make a blog so they can look how im doing, everyone agrees i should. But I'm compeltely lost in choosing a blog host for my new blog! I don't know whether i should use livejournal, free webs, or blogger? I like designing my possess layouts and pages etc. I know ALOT about the html lanuage. Getting used to web hosts isn't a problem for me. I had/have a website of my possess (its inactive though, its rarely updated because of school). Photography, videos, etc. are the sort of content sick be posting! I'm wondering if livejournal and blogger allow you to customise alot of the content like freewebs. But of course they are blog based, so i was wondering about the ups and downs of these hosts. Answers would obviously be great, thanks ;D! i have a bebo and a myspace. my options are limited T_T!

Open Question: What are the issues to keep in mind when embedding Flash video in a webpage?
Hi - I am relatively new to web development and have a couple questions regarding embedding Flash video. I have a customer who wants a short 30 second video to loop on the front page of the site. During the playing of the video, the end-user should have the ability to click on a website menu item and start to traverse the site. I have taken a sample AVI file and successfully converted it to both FLV and SWF. I have uploaded these files to an existing Google Pages account that I maintain. I have successfully used html object and embed statements to autoplay and loop the video (the SWF - can't receive the FLV to work). But I do have a couple questions: 1) Should I use SWF or FLV and why? It seems like I can successully play the SWF using object and embed, without the need for any special software. Should I instead be using the FLV for some reason? Would I need any special software to support this? 2) What user compatibility concerns (if any) should I be concerned about? If they have Flash installed, will this work pretty consistently (I do understand formatting inconsistencies between IE, FF, etc.... just not sure if Flash video is an additional can of worms to be concerned about) 3) I expect this to be relatively low volume (not sure exactly what that means yet, but this is for a tiny local landscaping business). Should I host the SWF/FLV video on Google Pages (is that OK?) or should I be looking at somewhere else? I have reason to store it on an external site. 4) Google Pages has a 10mb limit. Suggestions as to what host I should use if I need to go beyond 10mb. 5) I am assuming at this point that displaying a 30second HD-resolution video would NOT work for many end users. I am thinking we should stick with non-HD until the hardware/bandwidth catches up for most end-users. Is this the correct thinking? 6) The video would be recorded with sound. but I would want the video to be muted, unless the end-user clicked on a "Turn Sound On" button. How would I implement this? 7) I found a free AVI to SWF/FLV converter. Is there a noticeable quality difference between AVI->SWF/FLV converters? I would appreciate any help you could provide... I have a pal who has a web cast and he keeps rubbing it in my face. I am in the web cast for some videos but not that much. He always tells me about how many views he has to his videos. He is so annoying. His pal who is the co host is pregnant. Well that's what people say. He thinks he is best friends with her. They made a video called friends eversince and they were only friends since 5th grade and I been friends with him since 4th grade. They might cease the show though. I don't know why. Should I sign-up for a Web Hosting Plan? I want to be able to take real time payments. I have a PayPal account. Open Question: Can anyone provide a php script for a web form on Go Daddy so that I can choose the email address it sends to?
I am creating my first website and have included a web form, which I have operating using GoDaddy's webformmailer.php script. However, that script only works with the email address entered in the Go Daddy hosting account control centre ... therefore every forms from every websites I have on my multiple-domain hosting account will go to the same address. This is not what I want as it defeats the purpose of having multiple domains and multiple email addresses in the one account!!! Anyway, Go Daddy says I need to create my possess code to receive it working how I want and they can't help with that. I seem to have a ton of mysterious tmp files on my web hosting account. I have about 20 domains that I host there and last week I noticed each one had several tmp files that were really odd. One was the parent directory of some toyota dealership in texas...I called them and they had no idea how it happened...there are files from a radio station in ohio...every not related at every. Open Question: Free Web Hosting [help me enhance my site]?
Im currently useing a free web hosting plan to create my site [50 megs, freewebs, geocities ect.] I want to add things to the site, like A entrance page and banners.
